Today we released a small update to Borderlands 3 that fixes a number of reported bugs and implements some balance updates:
Bugs
- Yellow paint has been added to the Marsh Fields to mark a more obvious path to complete the Sabotage Crew Challenge.
- The New-U Station in front of the Halcyon Suborbital Spaceport (used during the “Space-Laser Tag” Mission) in the Meridian Metroplex now has a larger activation range.
- The New-U Station in front of Titian’s Gate (used during the “Atlas, At Last” Mission) in the Meridian Metroplex now has a larger activation range.
- The first Guardian a player runs into during the “Beneath the Meridian” mission is no longer over-leveled.
- The Eridian chest by the Grotto in the Jakob’s Estate is no longer invisible.
Balance
- Eridium crystals in Voracious Canopy grow less frequently.
- Scaled down the amount of loot drops in Mayhem Mode.
- Torgue shotgun sticky damage has been reduced.
- Reduced E-Tech shotgun elemental damage from “flesh off your bones” to “a lot”.
- Chupacabratch dropped too much of his hard-earned loot.
- Adjusted spawn rate of Loot Tinks in Mansion. They’re special again.
- Removed pain-sounds from Troy for his boss fight.
Hotfixes are applied at the Game Menu when you start the game. To ensure that the hotfix has been applied, go to the in-game menu and see if "Updates are available" is showing.
We know players have enjoyed a lot of our unique items and might be worried about the changes to Mayhem Mode. Mayhem Mode will still greatly increase higher rarity drop rates across all the worlds in Borderlands 3. The changes made in Mayhem Mode today, specifically on Chupacabratch and Loot Tinks, were made to spread some of the glory of loot explosions to the other areas and other enemies to hunt. We want Vault Hunters to hunt for unique items across all the worlds. That is the core promise of Mayhem Mode. The targeted adjustments seek to keep the grind fresh while still retaining an increase to unique drops for all parts of the game. We will be closely monitoring the changes to make sure players are still enjoying all the unique gear in the game.
In between the larger patches that will continue to expand and improve the game—the first one of those coming next week—we're able to make more minor adjustments via these hot fixes or 'micropatches' to improve and fine-tune your experience at a quicker pace. We'll continue to roll out these incremental improvements while evaluating gameplay data and identifying necessary balance adjustments, and will be keeping record of all patches on our site.
We are hard at work investigating issues that have been reported, including performance concerns and potential major bugs. Hot fixes generally are used to make balance changes and are handled by the design team. Additional reported concerns may affect other teams which may require that changes are made in a true content patch/title update. Together the Borderlands 3 teams are working tirelessly to release various patches or updates as soon as possible, however, we didn't want to wait on balance changes just for the sake of appearances.
We are aware that the above list of changes may not include all concerns that some players have reported experiencing, as detailed in the Borderlands 3 Troubleshooting and Optimization Guide. Thank you for your continued support.

2k needs to fix the word fonts to where people can read the quest and thier skills and the lag on man playing with a 2nd person on the same xbox the lag is really bad when you open your menu not the loot drop or the damage a gun does because most of the guns in the game suck I mean alot of the guns are trash

Not fixing issues that make the game almost unplayable but instantly nerfing loot and damage... ya..

Really shouldn't have messed with the loot and farming spots like come on it's literally a pve game not a pvp. And everyone is gonna farm eventually after end game to get the set up they want and there's so much guns and different attachments to the guns it would only make since that theres a lot of legendaries that drop and more legendaries more variety.

Loot in mayhem was perfect, and the increased lot really still mostly gave purples, so why change it? I have still only found one anointed legendary, so it's not like the way lot was broke the game. Also, the sticky function is literally the only reason to every use a Tongue shotgun, so nerfing it is a problem.

For me i haven't finished the story yet so i cant say much about the amout of legendary loot drops in mayhem mode but i have seen videos that show about 2 to 6 legendary loot drops at a time and i think its too much (not really rare if u can get on average 4 at a time people stop complaining about the nerf) the vidz were only on bosses tho so not too sure the nerf is worth for every enemy
but the anointed chance should be buffed just a little bit. For the Torgue shotgun i agree with com 8, the few i found only had like 2 or 3 shots in the magazine anyway so not too op if u nerf the reload speed or the percentage of damage for each sticky or the amount of stickys per shot that would be better but not too much of each just a lot of one. Still great game fixes are to be made but trust/know youll do a great job. Oh and com 5 great point with the split screen when opening the menu it is sooo laggy please sort that

I've played about 3 to 4 years a day since release and o ly had a few legendary weapons drop so now it's harder for drops lol really?!
And what's the poi t to even do this on a over game where there isn't any fighting other players except through a duel.

3 or 4 hours a day not years lol

Please address the crashing everytime you sort missions on xb1. Stability is still an issue so until we can play smoothly maybe leave us some loot love while you sort out the connectivity issues.

you shouldn't have changed the loot drops for mayhem especially with the variants for each item all I do is farm gear please for the love of god do not do an anthem and ruin this game by messing with loot PLEASE!!!!

I can agree to the dislike for the Nerf to loot on mayhem 3. That mode is hard enough to where it should warrent the amount of loot that came before the Nerf. Most people that agree with these Nerf changes haven't actually tried dealing with enemies on mayhem 3 mode. Most guns in the game become trash to almost any badass enemy so you have to really know your build and gear to get through it. It'd be nice to see an actual balance between the difficulty, loot, and the user experience of the game as a whole.
